Repairs

A Hardanger fiddle needs maintenance and sometimes small or even extensive repairs to function properly. It is important that repairs and maintenance is done correctly and by skilled professionals, to make sure the instrument is up to its potential and, at worst, doesn’t get damaged.

The setup (combination of the bridge, sound post, strings etc.) often needs to be redone to improve the instrument. Hardanger fiddles often have a lot of mother of pearl inlays that can fall of and often the pegs need maintenance to make the fiddle easy to tune.

I can also do larger jobs, for example reconstructing broken fingerboards and tailpieces or filling in/ thickening plates that are too thin.

Contact me if you have and instrument that needs a check-up.
